South Africa is the southernmost country on the tip of Africa. With 11 official languages and a wide variety of destinations ranging from inland safaris to coastal resorts to Winelands, it is a beautiful country that is home to around 58 million diverse people.

South Africa is known internationally for its inland safaris, especially Kruger National Park which is located along the border to Mozambique. Kruger is known to be home to an abundant amount of wild animals including the famous Big Five ( lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and cape buffaloes). Hundreds of other wildlife species also reside here including a large variety of bird species such as vultures, eagles and storks. The landscape is diverse, including many different terrains like mountains, bush plains, tropical forests, and riverbeds.

If you’re looking for something other than inland safaris, you can also consider the coastal areas and Winelands. Cape Town, a port city on the southwest coast of South Africa is home to the globally known Table Mountain. Table Mountain is a popular tourist attraction, known for its scenery and Cape Town is also known for its Winelands. Stellenbosch, a university town in the Western Cape province that’s roughly 50 kilometres away from Cape Town, is known for its vineyards and Cape Winelands. The town’s streets are lined with local cafes, boutiques, art galleries, and of course, wine tasting areas. The Stellenbosh region boasts more than 150 wineries, most widely known for its Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes which produce a lovely, rich red wine.

So here we are: Gauteng, Johannesburg, close to the capital city Pretoria… but what is there to do? Well, there are many different activities you can do, like visiting the all-time favourite Gold Reef City Theme Park if you’re in the mood for some roller coasters. Or you could take a walk down the historical lane and take a visit to the Constitution Hill Human Rights Precinct or take a look around the Apartheid Museum. If you are looking for something a little more adventurous, then you could also visit the Cradle of Humankind. This paleoanthropological site is about 50 kilometres from Johannesburg and it is declared a World Heritage site. It occupies around 47,000 hectares and contains a wide range of limestone caves, mountains, and plain terrain. Or, if you’re up for something more on the down-low, you could visit Sandton City, which is a large shopping mall in Sandton that houses over 300 stores. It also has an open courtyard with a large statue of the famous South African figure, Nelson Mandela, where you can grab a bite to eat from the many restaurants ranging from Western to Asian cuisine and take some nice selfies.

Explore this amazing country for yourself as there is much to discover. We bring a warm welcome to all of you who are new to our country!
