As we seniors get ready to close out our high school years, we take a moment to reflect on how our dreams have changed throughout our lives.
Cara Van Binsbergen: When she was younger, Cara dreamed of becoming a teacher or a singer. Now she is applying to study medicine to become a doctor in the future.
Luyando Mulonga: When he was younger, Louie wanted to be a professional football player and play at the highest level. Today, as a senior in High School, he plans to study business in university and wants to pursue a career in law.
Lara Sahinoglu: As a young child, Lara dreamt of becoming a heart surgeon. Her interest in helping people has stayed the same, but her career path has changed. Lara is going to study psychology at university and wants to build a career in psychology and marketing!
Sam Cox: In his younger years, Sam wanted to be a teacher. His new career path is somewhat similar: He now wants to be a social worker and will study social work and psychology at university.
María Plaza Ruiz: When María was younger, she wanted to become a forensic doctor. As a senior in high school, her desires have completely changed and in the future, she pictures herself making tomato paste in the backyard of her home in Italy! Before this, she wants to study linguistics at university.
Jessica Brown: Like many of us, young Jess was an animal-loving kid who wanted to be a vet. Now she plans on studying international business at university with the hopes of becoming the director of a company in the future.
Lucy Shepherd: Young Lucy was very interested in archeology and wanted to be an archeologist growing up. Many years later, she plans on studying communications and journalism at university, and in terms of the career she plans to pursue, she still has some discovery to do. Maybe the archeologist within her can help with that!
Qais Mirza: Like Louie, Qais also dreamt of becoming a professional soccer player. As he closes out his high school career, his career path has changed, and he now wants to pursue a career in law and study history at university.
Kyra Hyles: Like many of us, Kyra wanted to be a pop star growing up. However, she now wants to study marketing at university and hopes to become a real estate agent in the future. If you ever need a house in the future, you know who to look for!
Yedam Song: When she was younger, Yedam dreamt of becoming a social worker. Although she now wants to pursue a career related to the environment, we can see that her career choices always involve making the world a better place!
Ana Margot Brantley: As a young kid, Ana Margot wanted to be an artist. But she is now planning to study food science at university and dreams of working in the UN, particularly on sustainable food systems.
Martina Gutierrez: When she was younger, Martina wanted to be a neurosurgeon. Her career path has changed dramatically as she now wants to pursue a career in business and dreams of becoming the marketing director of a big company.
Flora Thompson: Flora once dreamt of becoming a rich artist. Fast forward a couple of years, and she is getting ready to apply to university. Although Flora is unsure of what career path she wants to take, knowing her, she will be successful in whatever she chooses to do and after all, she always has her art skills in case she decides that she wants to be a rich artist.
Hanna Chang: Hanna’s dream as a young girl was to become a princess in the future. Today her dreams are a bit more realistic, and she wants to become a cell biologist at a research institute. In college, she is planning on studying biology.
Lindsay Land: Lindsay dreamt of becoming a doctor when she was younger. A couple of years later, her career has stayed in similar domains, as she now wants to study microbiology and genetics in relation to ecology and university. After university, she wants to be an independent researcher at an institute.
Keisha Naidoo: When Keisha was young, she had a unique dream of pursuing a career in paleontology. Today, she wants to pursue a career in teaching and will study education at university.
Celina Olierhoek: As a child, Celina wanted to become a dentist. Many years later, she is still unsure about what career she wants to pursue in the future, but she will be studying film at university. Maybe she will direct the movie of the year a couple of years from now?
Archisha Singh: When she was younger, Archi loved writing, so she wanted to become an author. As a senior in high school, she is planning on studying business and wants to be a corporate goddess in the future.
Akshara Gupta: When AK was young, she had many dream careers. She wanted to be an architect, then a surgeon, and then a scientist. Now in her senior year of high school, she has decided that she won’t be pursuing any of those careers and instead hopes to be an engineer and entrepreneur in the future.
Lidya Tilahun: When Lidya was younger, she wanted to be a doctor, and she wanted to be happy in whatever she did. As she applies for university now, she wants to study biochemistry and psychology with the hopes of becoming a physician or psychologist in the future.
Blessing Arimany: Blessing once dreamt of becoming a geologist. Now she wants to study international relations in university and wants to pursue a diplomatic career in the future. Maybe she’ll be president one day?
Sadeem Al Angari: SadeEm once had the big dream of becoming a neurosurgeon. Now, she wants to study IT or actuarial science in university. She is not yet sure what career she wants to pursue after university, but we know she will be successful in whatever she does!
