It’s Grammys season again. 2021 was a great year for music: so many amazing artists released albums and great songs. In this article, I will be putting my Grammy predictions and who I think deserves each award. I won’t be doing all categories, only the ones I have the biggest opinion on.

Record of the year:

Montero (Call Me By Your Name) By Lil Nas X

I believe this song deserves a record of the year because it was so controversial but iconic. The song was a great summer song. I believe Lil Nas X deserves it.

Album of the year:

Donda By Kanye West

Donda deserves album of the year because of how much anticipation and it was a great album because of the wide range of emotions portrayed. The songs pay tribute to Kanye’s late mother. The features on this album were great, Kanye was able to bring a group of people together to create another good album.

Song of the year:

Diverse License By Olivia Rodrigo

This song was the stepping stone of Olivia’s amazing career.  The song blew up crazy on the first week of debut. Even though the song may be a basic pop song, it really was the song of the year due to all Spotify records that were broken.

Best New Artist:

Baby Keem

Baby Keem was amazing this year dropping an album that was truly amazing. He impacted the rap genre in 2021 with his new rhythm and vocals. Family ties as he has a mix of inspirational and Playboi carti.

Best Pop Duo/Group Performance:

Butter by BTS

BTS, despite all their hype, is still heavily underrated with their performances. The Butter performance had literally everyone intrigued and on their toes. The performance was so well executed with excellent dancing and also a great wardrobe.

Best pop vocal album:

Sour by Olivia Rodrigo

This album was fantastic, especially as it was Olivia’s debut. The album was the definition of teenage heartbreak and that’s why so many teens could relate. This album broke many records and is on every radio station no matter the region.

Best R&B Song:

Good Days by SZA

This song was released at the end of 2020 and was dropped at the perfect time. We had just gone through our first year of a pandemic and truly were seeking “good days” and almost reassuring.

Best Melodic Performance:

Industry Baby by Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow

Truly sensational song. If it was nominated, it would have been the song of the year. The song was a great mix between pop and rap.

Best Rap Album:

Call me if you get lost by Tyler the Creator

This album deserved this award because of how well made it was. The mix of artists was truly amazing. Tyler has a different style of art compared to many of the other artists nominated, he was able to mix together rap style with the RnB.

Best Global Music Performance:

Essence By Wizkid ft Tems

Essence was a great Afro-Beat song that made its way around the world. The song was part of Wizkid’s new album “Made In Lagos”. Was honestly a great summer song and deserves a Grammy win.
