Life can get very hard and stressful but knowing how to make yourself happier is always great to improve your life and day to day experiences.
1. Show gratitude
Showing gratitude is showing thanks and appreciation for what someone receives; this could be a literal gift or it might not be as literal. When people show gratitude, people recognize the good that is happening in their lives. When you acknowledge more of the happiness in your life, you will make the darkness seem a little more light. Showing gratitude can help people’s lives feel a little more positive physically and emotionally. When someone is more grateful they are able to form better relationships in their life and that overall makes you happier. You can show gratitude for thanking people more whether you acknowledge them through writing or face to face.
2. Listen to music
Music is a great coping mechanism for stress and to hide away from situations where you can’t run. Science also proves this because music releases a chemical in your brain called dopamine, dopamine improves your mood and reduces your anxiety. Music also helps with the making of cortisol which helps with stress reduction. This coping mechanism overall boosts pleasure, joy and motivation. You can make your own playlist for specific moods you are in to help improve or continue the mood you are in.
3. Painting
Painting is a very therapeutic activity that calms you when doing it. When talking about painting, I don’t mean a huge canvas, more like something that inspires you and is on your mind. Viewing art triggers a surge of dopamine, which is a happy chemical, into the brain, resulting in feelings of pleasure and satisfaction.
4. Yoga
Yoga is very good for the soul as it makes you more mindful. The benefits of yoga can be connected to a common mechanism, the vagus nerve, which connects the brain to the body. A short session of yoga poses may positively affect the vagal tone making us more happy and satisfied. You can just add 5 minutes of simple yoga in your day-to-today life to boost your mood.
