Valentine’s Day is a time for all types of love! You could celebrate it by eating chocolate all by yourself, by watching a romcom, or by spending time with a loved one. In this article, I’ll be showing how Valentine’s Day is spent in different countries. Maybe you’ll even adopt some of these traditions!
- Argentina:
In Argentina, they do not celebrate“Valentine’s Day” like the rest of the world. Instead, they have a “week of sweetness” that is in July. The time is used for people in love to get together, buy each other sweets, and exchange kisses.
- France:
Paris is the heart of love and is known as the city of love. In France, they celebrate love in the most cliche way, people finding Valentines and spending the day with their lover. The city will be full of roses and Valentine’s festivities. This is very cliche but being in the epicenter of love makes it 10 times better.
- South Korea:
In South Korea, they don’t celebrate Valentine’s day, but they do have many other days with the same motives. In May, they celebrate the day of “roses” where everyone is gifted roses showing their love. In June they celebrate the day of “kisses”, where they give kisses to their lovers. They don’t celebrate love on the same day as other countries but have many other holidays that have the same motives.
- Philippines:
In the Philippines, they host a gala event during this day and many couples have their wedding and this event is sponsored by the government. This day is seen as the only special day for young couples.
- Ghana:
The 14th of February is seen as the day of chocolate in Ghana. This day was given back in 2007 when the country wanted to increase their tourism, so named this day the day of chocolate. This is very prominent because Ghana is one of the world’s biggest cocoa-producing countries.
- Bulgaria:
In Bulgaria, they celebrate the 14th of Feb as the day of winemakers. Their way of celebrating love on this day is by having a glass of wine with their lover. This tradition is not limited to any generation, so you will see couples of all ages participating in this tradition.
